The 2026 / 2027 musical season in Paris is one of the richest in years. The Lion King opens its sixth season at the Théâtre Mogador, Shrek The Musical gets its first French production at the Folies Bergère, Les Misérables returns to the Théâtre du Châtelet where it was created, and the newly restored Lido stages Singin’ in the Rain. Here is our full guide, venue by venue.
A practical note before you book: almost every show in Paris is performed in French, including the Broadway and West End adaptations listed here. Music, choreography and staging travel well, so most visitors enjoy them regardless — but if you want to follow every line of dialogue, pick a title you already know. Weekend and school-holiday performances sell out weeks in advance.

The Lion King — Season 6
Disney’s flagship production returns to the Théâtre Mogador for a sixth season, still in Julie Taymor’s original staging. Around fifty performers, eleven live musicians, more than 200 masks and 200 puppets: this is the safest bet in Paris if you are travelling with children, and the visual language carries the story even if your French is limited.

Shrek The Musical
The autumn headliner at the Folies Bergère: the first French production of Shrek The Musical, with Chantal Ladesou as the Dragon. Big costumes, broad humour and a score that lands — it works for children and adults alike, and the Folies Bergère itself is worth the trip for its 1920s interior.

Les Misérables at the Théâtre du Châtelet
The most performed musical in the world returns to the theatre where it premiered in 1980. Boublil and Schönberg’s production comes back to the Châtelet for two months, with the full orchestra and chorus that built its reputation. This is the event of the season and the hardest ticket to get — book as early as you can.

Singin’ in the Rain at the Théâtre du Lido
After The Young Girls of Rochefort, the Lido continues its run of great screen classics staged in French. Tap dancing, a live orchestra and, of course, the rain sequence performed on stage. Old-school music hall in a room that has been completely rebuilt — one of the most purely enjoyable evenings on this list for non-French speakers.

Le Roi Soleil — The Return
Twenty years after its creation, Kamel Ouali’s cult musical about Louis XIV is back at the Dôme de Paris with a revised staging. The songs are untouched and remain enormously popular in France — a piece of pure 2000s nostalgia, and a good window into French pop culture if you want something you would not see at home.

La Cage aux Folles at La Seine Musicale
Jerry Herman’s musical, adapted from Jean Poiret’s play, with Laurent Lafitte as Zaza. Only two weeks on stage at La Seine Musicale in Boulogne-Billancourt: feathers, sequins and real emotion, carried by one of the most anticipated casts of the season.

- The Hilton Sisters — Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, 11–26 September 2026. An intimate musical about Daisy and Violet Hilton, conjoined twins who became American vaudeville stars.
- A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder (Le Guide du parfait gentleman assassin) — Théâtre du Palais-Royal, 21 August – 20 December 2026. The Tony-winning Broadway comedy, with one actor playing the entire doomed family.
- Olympe(s) — La Scala Paris, 6 November – 31 December 2026. A contemporary French creation about Olympe de Gouges and the place of women in history.
- Love, Linda — Studio Raspail then the Auditorium of La Seine Musicale, 20 November – 13 December 2026. A one-woman musical about Cole Porter’s wife, sung to his songs.
- This Is Michael — La Seine Musicale, 24 October 2026. The Michael Jackson tribute show, for one night only.
Family musicals in Paris
- Sleeping Beauty (La Belle au bois dormant) — Théâtre de la Gaîté Rive Gauche, 3 October 2026 – 9 May 2027. A short, colourful musical version of Perrault’s tale, ages 4 and up.
- Le Manoir Grimilde — Apollo Théâtre, 11 October – 29 November 2026. A haunted-house family musical, ideal for the Halloween holidays, ages 6 and up.
- Une seconde avant Noël — Folies Bergère, 11 December 2026 – 17 January 2027. The big Christmas musical, playing in repertory with Shrek, ages 5 and up.
- Oliver Twist — Le Lucernaire, from 9 September 2026. A pared-back musical version of Dickens in a small venue, ages 7 and up.
- Paris Is Magique — Théâtre de la Gaîté Rive Gauche, running since 23 June 2026. Magic, song and dance built around the city itself, and one of the more visual options for visitors.

- Kinky Boots — Folies Bergère, 12 February – 9 May 2027. Cyndi Lauper and Harvey Fierstein’s six-time Tony winner takes over from Shrek.
- The Rise — Dôme de Paris – Palais des Sports, 27 February – 2 May 2027. A new large-scale musical production in the venue’s trademark spectacular format.
- Company — Théâtre du Châtelet, 30 March – 11 April 2027. Stephen Sondheim’s masterpiece returns for a short run — one of the highlights of the end of the season.

Ghost — The Musical
An adaptation of the film starring Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze. Created in 2011, the show was a major success in England before travelling to North America. The French version played at the Théâtre Mogador from 26 September 2019 to June 2020, with tickets from €39.50.
Funny Girl
The Théâtre Marigny staged Funny Girl, the musical that made Barbra Streisand a star. Created on Broadway in 1964 before its huge success on screen, it gave the world “People” and “Don’t Rain on My Parade”. The French adaptation ran from November 2019 to March 2020, with tickets from €15.
Chicago, The Musical
The 1975 Broadway show arrived in Paris with an impressive cast and choreography, and the French adaptation was a genuine success. It played at the Théâtre Mogador from 18 September 2018 to 30 June 2019, then returned to the Casino de Paris for the 2025 / 2026 season.
