If you are visiting Paris on Christmas Day or New Year’s Day and want to know what’s open and what to do during this time, here’s some useful information. On these two days, most stores are closed, and many museums and monuments are also closed, but some remain open. You can still enjoy activities like outdoor ice skating or take a river boat cruise in Paris on New Year’s Day.

For shopping, many Christmas markets are open during the season, where you can find everything you need to prepare for New Year’s Eve in Paris. We have listed the monuments and museums that are open on these days, along with other available activities.

Food markets and some shops also remain open on New Year’s Day.

Note that there is no Boxing Day in France; all shops and attractions are open as usual on December 26.
